We try very hard to reuse and reduce at our store.
One of the steps we are taking to reuse and reduce is updating our fabric library with a new numbering system so that we can find fabrics faster and easier which keeps our cost down. My grandchildern are cutting labels from cardboard food boxes with a Sizzix machine and putting the fabric number on them and then tagging each fabric. We had been using purchased labels which are not only very costly but a waste, now cardboard boxes that would go into the landfill can be put to good use and believe me we have a lot of fabric. Once we are done with the labeling and organizing we will post some pics.
So here is where you all can help, we reuse scraps of felt and fabric for finger puppets and smaller items but we end up with a lot of smaller scraps and these get thrown away at the end of everyday. We have tried to come up with an idea to use them but can't think of anything. Send us your ideas and we will post them on the blog.
