Contest with a great Give away
We try very hard to reuse and reduce at our store.
One of the steps we are taking to reuse and reduce is updating our fabric library with a new numbering system so that we can find fabrics faster and easier which keeps our cost down. My grandchildern are cutting labels from cardboard food boxes with a Sizzix machine and putting the fabric number on them and then tagging each fabric. We had been using purchased labels which are not only very costly but a waste, now cardboard boxes that would go into the landfill can be put to good use and believe me we have a lot of fabric. Once we are done with the labeling and organizing we will post some pics.
So here is where you all can help, we reuse scraps of felt and fabric for finger puppets and smaller items but we end up with a lot of smaller scraps and these get thrown away at the end of everyday. We have tried to come up with an idea to use them but can't think of anything. Send us your ideas and we will post them on the blog. Since we know that you will all have great ideas we will draw at name on May 1 to see who will win $10.00 gift certificate to the store.

What about filler for a sensory tub? Or what about filler in any of your packaging that needs some padding. I'm envisioning cellophane bags with a handful of that in the bottom to cushion a product.
ReplyDeleteIf they are as tiny as I am imagining you could use the scraps as a stuffing in other products or you could use them to cover buttons.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for the button covers?
ReplyDeleteOh great ideas...What about onto a pillow, canvas or tote to make a design like a mosaic? You can use lots and the pretty fabric gets seen?
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, I could make some neat Christmas gifts
ReplyDeleteI use small scraps in funky hair bows if they are just strips. If they are smaller than that, you could use them and cover buttons for the centers of bows etc. I like the idea of using it as filler too.
ReplyDeleteA jewelry set? The little pieces could be jewels strung/sewn on fabric necklaces and/or bracelets as well as on plastic clip-on earrings. :)
